Daughter of a rich miller, Pelagija (Polka), nee Denisovna Belousova, Broz (1904-1967), was born in the USSR in the village of Mihajlovka near Omsk. On September 7th 1920 she married Josip Broz in Bogoljubovsk near Omsk. They had four children, and Zarko was the youngest and only surviving son. Pelagija divorced J. Broz in 1936. She died in 1967 in the USSR.
