    Birch bark, handwriting
    5.2 x 7.8 cm

An Austro-Hungarian soldier, born in Zagreb, sends word to his parents on a postcard made of birch bark. The inscription on one side reads: Primite Lepi Pozdrav Iz Ratista 10/II 916 Sin Zivko Pintar; inscription on the other side: Uspomena iz Galicije Mojim Roditeljima god. 1914-1916.

Bought from Nikola Jancic from Zagreb in 1973.

    Z. Pintar (K.u.K. J.M.K. III. 53 R.) had also sent another postcard from the Galicia Front made from birch bark to his fiancee Milka Jancic (sister to N. Jancic) on May 10th 1917; the handwriting on it is barely legible.
