    The Emperor Francis I founded the cross in 1814 in memory of the victory over Napoleon.

    A cross with equal arms that become narrower in the centre. A laurel wreath is placed between the arms of the cross. Obverse: inscription in the arms of the cross: GRATI / PRINCEPS ET PATRIA / FRANC. / IMP. AUG. Reverse: inscription in the arms of the cross: EUROPAE / LIBERTATE ASSERTA / MDCCCXIII / MDCCCXIV.

    The cross was awarded to Mijat Sabljar as lieutenant of a banal regiment in 1814 in Dubrovnik.
