Sign of the Hatters' Guild


Zagreb 1822 Wood, brass, branded drawing height 15.5 cm, width 11.5 cm, thickness 2.5 cm A sign shaped like a shallow box with a lid. On the outside a scene with merry journeymen amusing themselves, executed using the technique of branding wood. On the inside to the left there is a base with a top hat and an inscription: Errichtet unter den Herrn Ober-Vorsteher Joseph Polyak und Unter-Vorsteher Aloys Gall den 18-ten October 1822. To the right there is a scene of a shop with tools and merchandise. Bought in 1908 from Marija Cucek in Zagreb. M.
