Sign in the shape of a boat

    picture-1

    probably Sisak
    18th century
    Iron sheet, oil colour, painted
height 18 cm, width 19 cm

A small boat with a mast, sail and a flag, and a sailor raising the sail. Partially coloured (the paint is faintly preserved). The sign was made in a very simple and primitive fashion.

The sign originates from Sisak, and was donated to the Museum by the Ivan Walther Walthersthal, a retired captain.

It is interesting to note that this item was among the first museum exhibits that found their way to the National Museum, and that it is drawn and described in the first inventory lists written by its curator and director Mijat Sabljar.

Restored in 1996 by Maja Velicogna Novoselac.
