Zagreb Ljubo Babic 1921 Tempera on wood 35.6 x 21.7 cm View of a street defined by greyish green cubes of houses that gently turns to the right and disappears in the perspective. An endless river of people with red flags flows down the street. The signature in the bottom left-hand corner reads: LJ B. A sticker on the back of the painting with the inscription: Narodna Republika Hrvatska / Izlozba u Moskvi / Izlozeno br. 132 / Ime i prezime: Babic Ljubo / Naziv rada: Zagreb 1921. / Vrsta (tehnika): Tempera / Velicina: 24.5 x 21 cm / Vrijednost: 10.000. Donated in 1964 by the Central Committee of the Croatian Communist League from Zagreb. J. Uskokovic, Ljubo Babic retrospektiva 1905-1969, (catalogue), Zagreb, 1975/6, page 56 In the above-mentioned catalogue the picture was catalogued under number 83 as 'Red Standards' and dated in 1919. The picture was published as 'Red Standards', owned by the Gallery of Modern Art, in the Likovna enciklopedija Jugoslavije, volume II, published by JLZ Miroslav Krleza, Zagreb, in 1984, page 56, and in the Enciklopedija hrvatske umjetnosti, volume I, published by LZ Miroslav Krleza, Zagreb, in 1995, on page 95.
