Ljudevit Splait

Dressed in an Illyrian tunic, with an Illyrian cap on his head. In his left hand he is holding a sabre-hilt. There is no signature. Ljudevit Splait from Karlovac was a supporter of the Illyrian Movement, and one of the founders of the National Reading Room in that town. Bought in 1965 from Ivanka Splait from Zagreb. Hrvatski narodni preporod 1790-1848, (exhibition catalogue), Zagreb, 1985, page 284, catalogue number 1242.
