Modrus
1640
Limestone, carved
25 x 27 x 24 cm
One of a few epigraphic finds from a town that was an important cultural and ecclesiastical centre before the arrival of the Turks. Judging by the shape of the fragment and shape of the letters, we assume that it was a part of a building. The fragment has not been completely preserved. It is inscribed with letters in Cyrillic and Latin script. 640 A / ARADIV / J P U SPAS / M DOM / A MI
Donated in 1872 by Ivan Pobor, the parish priest at Modrus.
